Cyprus’ Committee
The Dante Alighieri Society is an international organization that was founded in Italy in 1889 with the aim of promoting Italian language and culture, strengthening the links between Italians living abroad and their homeland, and nourishing and disseminating love for Italian culture throughout the world.
The Cyprus’ Committee of the Dante Alighieri Society, established in 1998, is a non profit organization organization that aims to promote the Italian language and culture in the island.
It is hosted at the Italian Embassy of Nicosia and offers also the use of the library which contains approximately 2000 books.
To the high performing students the Society offers scholarships for the following school year.
The Society organizes language courses of Italian for foreigners at different levels and is a certifying centre for the PLIDA exams.
The Committee moreover organizes different and interesting cultural events, collaborates with several schools in the island and is active in promoting scholarships.
Being a member of the Society, you will be entitled to:
- Participate to the events organized
- Benefit the agreements pledged by the central organization in Rome
- Benefit the discounts agreed within the island
- Participate to cultural trips organized by the Cyprus’ Committee
- Use the library of the Committee and borrow books
